While historically a part of the wider Kent county, Keston is now part of the London borough of Bromley, and as such benefits from the areas fantastic transport links. If you’re a regular commuter, you only need to go a short distance to West Wickham or Hayes train stations, or hop on the frequent buses that travel to Bromley South station for quick trains into London. From the bustling city of London to country life in under an hour – Keston is a great option for families wanting to settle in a picturesque location without facing an impossible journey to work.
A walk in the park
For the keen rambler or those who love nothing better than going for walks with their family, friends and furry companions, Keston Common is the perfect spot. Spanning 55 hectares, there is an abundance of nature to enjoy including the commons dry heath, grasses, rich plant life and flowers to brighten up your day. Trail walking is particularly popular with visitors, but whatever route you decide to take, make sure you pass by Keston ponds where you’ll find doggie-paddlers making a splash and fisherman eager to get their next bite. In Keston it’s very much a case of quality over quantity. While this small village may not boast a big number of eating and drinking establishments, what it does offer is excellent pub grub. The Fox Inn and The Greyhound, close to each other offer a good range of traditional pub fare, with both overlooking the pretty common. Whichever you choose, the two pubs boast a great sense of community spirit, however, it is worth noting that The Greyhound had the honour of being awarded ‘Community Pub of the Year 2017’ by the Shepherd Naeme Award – a spot not to be missed.
Picturesque property
For property, this village offers a diverse selection. Located by Keston Church of England Primary School, Lakes Road offers predominantly period terraced and semi-detached properties, with other roads off Heathfield Road providing a diverse range of detached family homes. Then, located behind Keston Ponds, towards Farnborough Common, you’ll find ‘Keston Park’: a gated development of approximately 200 houses with some spectacular properties, from modern masterpieces to traditional homes.
