HOT COLOURS FOR PROPERTY SELLERS IN 2024
If you are looking to sell your property this year one of the best ways of brightening up your home and capturing buyers’ attention is by giving it a new lick of paint or bringing in new accessories to freshen its appeal.
While you might be tempted to go neutral, being a little braver and incorporating the latest interior designs and colours could help your property to stand out in potential buyers’ minds as being on-trend and perhaps therefore more desirable. According to online furniture brand Swoon, which has based its research on national Google search demand, there are five key trends to follow this year and hot colours are a key part of that.
The Return Of Art Deco's Subtle Opulence
Bold, rich jewel tones such as emerald and sapphire are part of the Art Deco trend and it’s back with a vengeance for this season, according to Swoon. Think 20s glamour with a modern twist. According to Google Keyword Planner, searches for the Art Deco style almost doubled between October and December 2023.
This trend is about opulence, so as well as rich colours it’s about luxurious materials, such as velvet sofas or throws, and brass or metallic accents – all of which can be taken with you when you move. But it’s done with subtlety too, so a jewel-toned sofa set against a neutral background, for example.
An Eclectic Boho Vibe With Modern Materials
The Bohemian vibe takes inspiration from the 60s and 70s and encompasses an eclectic mix of vibrant colours and natural elements. It includes natural materials, such as rattan-style furniture, as well as more modern materials such as boucle and cord. The Google research suggests that searches for this style rose by 52% for the three months to December 2023.
Scandi's Minimalist Cosiness In New Neutrals
The 1950s saw the emergence of Scandinavian design, a clean, bright, simple and functional look with a focus on organic materials and colours also inspired by nature. This organic colour pallet is neutrals-based but with new twists on colours, such as sage green, powder blue and pastel apricot.
Monotone interiors can be enhanced with a single statement piece in a bolder, but still nature-inspired colour splash. The Scandi style receives nearly 3,000 searches a month on Google, according to Swoon’s research.
A Contemporary Twist On Georgian Elegance
Georgian design borrows the grandeur of Art Deco but on a lesser scale. Here colours are pastel-based and are complemented by woods such as pine and walnut, as well as stone and marble accents.
Attracting 1,600 searches a month, up by 30% over the three-month period that Swoon measured, the softer colours, as well as other materials used brings Georgian elegance into homes but with a contemporary twist.
Bold, Trending Colours: Damson, Mustard, Sage Green, and Black
If you are simply looking to add pops of colour to make your property stand out, rather than incorporating the colours of a particular style, then damson, mustard and sage green are all current trends. Even black is back in vogue as a statement colour, with searches up 100%. Whether you choose to follow the trends or set your own is up to you but making your property more memorable will help achieve your sale.
